Overview

Wahkohtowin is a two-day training that focuses on Indigenous storytelling as a method of teaching and discovering the interconnected nature of relationships.

Time: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Location: 1.5 hours
Duration: Address Here
Date: 12 Feb 2024

Wahkohtowin harnesses the practice of storytelling, assists participants in identifying lessons in stories, and helps staff develop a story of their own, providing some professional distance while allowing personal experience to offer a child or youth a little guidance and insight.

Traditional storytelling practice engages the whole person, in a good story, they see themselves reflected.

As social creatures, stories are an effective way to transmit important information and values from one individual or community to the next. Stories that are personal and emotionally compelling engage more of the brain and are better remembered than simply stating a set of facts.
